I love sitcoms and shows that take advantage of comedy sketches. I also love shows that can slip into another genre for an episode, then bounce right back without throwing anyone off their bandwagon. Community is one of those shows.
First of all, the cast of this show couldn’t be better.
Joel McHale plays a narcissistic and cynical disbarred lawyer who goes to community college to get his license back. Meet Jeff Winger.
Alison Brie plays a goodie two shoes girl who is way too smart for community college. Her name is Annie Edison.
Gillian Jacobs plays a feminist screw up who has traveled the world, but still has so much to learn. Enter Britta Perry.
Donald Glover (who you have met earlier this week) plays an ex-jock who is air headed, but carries the burden of a good heart. Meet Troy Barnes.
Danny Pudi, who I have a crush on for sure, plays a brilliant filmmaking and imagination enthusiast working on understanding basic social cues. This guy is Abed Nadir.
Chevy Chase, a household favorite, plays a guy equally as distracted and inappropriate as the Griswold father. It’s a mystery for a while why this elderly person is in community college. Nevertheless, meet Pierce Hawthorne.
Yvette Nicole Brown is one of the most down to earth characters, just based off of her situation, and plays a confident and (usually) optimistic single mother. Meet the fabulous Shirley Bennett.
This is the study group, which is about as diverse as a group of community college students can get. Each episode takes full advantage of their talents, and even if one character is going through something major, there are enough subplots to keep everyone involved.
Now, speaking of their school…
Jim Rash plays the overzealous Dean Craig Pelton, who loves to play dress up for any occasion and also keeps his school so inclusive, he made the official mascot the “human being.”

This school is always up to something. Ken Jeong plays the horribly mean Spanish teacher, Señor Ben Chang, and loves to get involved with student activities.
This show does everything, even delving into other genres and even other mediums altogether.

There is a plethora of other awesome characters and everyone is hilarious.

Here are some clips that will really convince you of how awesome this show is.
So, check it out on Hulu!
