My #SheAdventures Spirit

Prompted by a question Outdoor Research asked for their #SheAdventures scholarship program, I got to thinking about my own daily adventurer’s spirit.  Here’s what was running through my head…

My mom has an old story about my high school prom that she tells anyone who asks about who I am.  It’s a short story about how, the weekend of prom, every weather channel was calling for rain. I shrugged it off and tried on gowns, stating that “I hope it rains; that would be make it into an adventure.”  This is one of the many times I’ve embraced what was seemingly a negative situation.

I love when life throws challenges at us because with those, I have more interesting moments, more eventful days, and way more awesome stories to tell.  I also find value is building the skills needed to handle conflict, no matter how big or small.

I work every day in my job as a media coordinator to help represent my team as the talented and hardworking people they are, while helping to connect them to our community in a productive way.  My job in digital marketing is an adventure, my life with crazy friends, family, and doggies is an adventure, and of course I go on my own personal outdoor adventures seeking to challenge myself further each time.

By the way, embracing rain on prom weekend allowed me to have an even better time when there turned out to be nothing but sunshine.
