Hello there. I know it’s been quite a while, but boy do I have an update for you. Today, I’m going to share with you my very first vlog post where I show you what plants I’m potting from a great weekend of plant shopping with Austin and my mom. I’m so excited!

This past Saturday was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. When you pour your heart into something new, it’s a little tricky to find a balance between what you can handle taking on and where you feel comfortable asking your loved ones for help. Let me tell you, my people came through.

My original plan for Saturday was to hit two plant sales: the Big Spring Plant Sale at Reynolda Gardens right around the corner from where I work and the IncrEDIBLE plant sale in downtown Greensboro at the Children’s Museum. What happened in between was a magical surprise, especially for my mom.

We loved the plant sale at Reynolda Gardens, where I ate some sweet and very spicy herbs, tricking my mom into suffering from my curiosity. They had a huge rush earlier that morning, so our Starbucks run is to blame for us missing out on some of the plants that escaped before we arrived. My favorite part of this sale was the help that my wonderful gardener friends gave us as we perused unfamiliar breeds of flowers. Stop #1 was a win.

On our way to the IncrEDIBLE sale, we were passing the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds when we saw signs for another plant sale! Of course we pulled in, and we cashed out with TONS of plants that were raised and donated straight from people’s yards to benefit the local Garden Club Council. My mom found a ton of plants she’d been looking for, so stop #2, though unplanned, was also a win.

We headed to downtown Greensboro, where they were having multiple events all in one. I learned that the Children’s Museum has a half acre garden with all kinds of beautiful and edible plants as well as chickens for kids to learn from. Austin and I chatted with a beekeeper who taught me way more than I needed to know about international honeybee breeds. I also got some unique tomatoes and some peppers to replace the seedlings I’d killed last month. So, stop #3 was a necessary win.

Here’s a complete list of the plants I came away with on Saturday:

Hot & Spicy Oregano

Lemon Balm

Lime Basil

Stevia

Cilantro

Aunt Ruby’s Green Girl Tomato

Taxi yellow Tomato

5 mystery plants (tomatoes?)

Jalapeno peppers x4

Sweet Banana Peppers x4

Bell Pepper

Ivy

Clematis

Pink Fizz

Juniper

This was an incredible weekend and I want to dedicate this post to Austin and Mommy. Thanks so much for coming along with me and supporting me as I venture into the wild world of gardening.

Don’t forget to watch my first vlog!
